Hello!

More photos of my cooking... It is now 4.42 am in France but this is the only time period when I can use the internet at my desk. Long story that's already been told countless times. Gah.

From top left clockwise: Potatoes fried with ikan bilis stock, egg and onion; Mixed vegetables or chap chye with ikan bilis stock, fish, carrots, cabbage, onions, long beans, mushroom, egg, red pepper and corn flour; Chicken curry with colombo spices, cumin, coconut milk, potatoes and carrots; Ayam tomato.

The colombo spices that I bought quite some time back in the flea market here were so good! I think I'll be buying many packets to bring home since I've never tasted curry quite like it in Singapore.

That's all for now.. Have an upcoming Belgium & Netherlands trip on 5 April (details to be finalized) and I need to make plans for a trip during spring break which is technically from April 16-22 but I will be free from April 13-23!

Well, can't really do anything until I finish my 3000-word law essay due on Fri and prepare for my French presentation on 3 April. :(

--------------------------------------

Upcoming events
  • European Law essay due - 30 March
  • Contemporary French presentation - 3 April
  • Belgium & Netherlands - 5-9 April
  • My Birthday! - 8 April
  • Contemporary French test - 12 April
  • Spring Break - 13-23 April

Buon giorno!

Turin/Torino was great! I am pleased to inform you that my Italian has improved by 100% (I previously knew zero italian lol). It's very similar to French & Spanish, so it was very easy! Turin was superbly clean (relative to France but of course who can beat Singapore?) and beautiful. :) For those who didn't know, Turin was where they had the Winter Olympics in 2006 and you can still see remnants of the neon decorations all over.

From left: (Day 2) Pretty walkways - Loren & Me - Atrium at Piazza Solferino - Olympic Museum - The inside of the museum was really cool - I won Loren 1-0! - Smile! - I took this photo ;) - Piazza Castello - A side of Palazzo Madama - Palazza Madama - Palazzo Reale (Royal Palace) in Piazza Castello - The inside of Palazzo Madama which I thought was grand until I entered Palazzo Reale - Gold, gold and more gold - Ivory carvings - One of the rooms in Palazzo Madama - Obligatory flower photo - Palazzo Reale - Kids are too active nowadays - Citta di Torino - Biblioteca Reale - Piazza Castello - Mole Antonelliana where we took the Panoramic Lift up - Viva Italia! - Typical Italian housing - View from the top of the Mole - Museo Nazionale del Cinema which was the coolest, most interactive and most fun museum I've ever been to! - Indian dinner - (Day 3) Museo Egizio was full of mummies and corpses and not for the faint-hearted - Porta Palatina - Coolest tram I've ever seen - Ponte Vittorio Emanuele I - Neon - Waiting in the rain for the boat ride - Borgo Medievale - We took the tram Sassi-Superga! - It was soooo fun and we went up the hill - Pretty at the top - Zoomed-in view of Turin from the top - Ponte Vittorio Emanuele I at night - Fiume Po at night - Walking back - (Day 4) Snow on the way back - Lovely scenery from the train - (Misc Photos) Fiume Po/Ponte Umberto I - Green - One of the Olympic Mascots - Mole in reflection - Olympics!

Special Mentions
  • Their Tourism Office (Turismo Torino) for having a 2-day pass for 18 euros which made everything that we could possibly do free! (Public transport, Tourism Bus, ancient tram up the hill, entry to museums & palaces, panoramic lift, boat rides etc.) It was very much worth it and Loren and I had a blast showing our pass whenever we want to do anything. :D
  • The superbly nice lady i/c at Hotel Frejus (where we stayed) for helping us out and giving us lots of freebies despite our language difficulties - free 1.5 litres of bottles cola and orange and even a huge 2 litre bottle of mineral water! Couldn't stop laughing when she gave me all that to carry back into our room when all I wanted to was ask for a free glass of coke. She also gave us bread and biscuits for our trip home. Sadly, Loren was too nice so we did not touch the cola and biscuits and left them in the room before we left.

Ok! Have to finish my french essay! Ciao ciao!

Hello!

Paris was fantabulous! Extended my trip by a day due to some miscommunication; it turned to be a good thing because Paris is a city with too many things to do/places to see/photos to take! Took 860 photos this time round, so here's a mini-collage of my lovely trip with Kasia (pity she left after the first night!) & Amanda (all the way from Singapore!). :)

From left: Day 1 - Typical advert in the metro station; Walking along the Seine; Inside of Notre Dame; Cathedrale de Notre Dame; Me & Kasia; Pantheon; Jardin+Palais de Luxembourg; Kasia attempting to look intellectual like the other people in the park :D; Adoring grandparents; The park is huuge; Flowers are everywhere; Typical street flower (though I took this at a cafe!); Day 2 - Champs Elysees!; As the French would say, this is so bizarre; Arc de Triomphe where we climbed 200+ steps to the top (50m); Eiffel Tower!; Me & Amanda; Intricacy; I've a gazillion shots of the Eiffel Tower; View from the top; Notre Dame bathing in sunset; We went to the Louvre!; Venus de Milo; Grandest museum I've ever been to; Pyramid at the Louvre; Day 3 - Disneyland!; Don't mess with me; Train's coming!; Fantasyland was magical (minus aggressive parents and bratty kids); Spot me!; Mad Hatter's Tea Cups; Sleeping Beauty Castle; Grand Canyon; Cherry Blossoms; Pinocchio was a girl; Ended off the night with the Eiffel Tower. :)

I had a wonderful time overall and I'm definitely going back there again! Will post the individual shots (full-length shots of Eiffel Tower, my photo with Mickey etc.) soon. Need to start doing my Geopolitics paper & EU Law paper tomorrow dang.. :P

Next trip: Turin, Italy! (23/3 - 26/3)

Hello!

My only exam is over! It was straightforward but like all exams that require memorization, I couldn't remember half the things that were written on the slides. Dang. BUT who gets to say "I'm going to Paris to celebrate the end of exams"? ;)

Cya when I'm back!

-Nasi Lemak-

Made Nasi Lemak (rice with coconut milk) today. Have been sleeping too much/watching Idol nowadays and I'd better get started studying for my exam on Monday! I feel a throat infection coming though. :(

Hello!

In case any of you misses my cooking, or at least photos of them. :P

From top left clockwise: Stir-fry vegetables with spices - green beans, broccoli, red pepper, mushroom, crabsticks, onions, egg; Ayam Rendang; stir-fry vegetables (same as the first one) with rice; fish tempura with sweet chilli sauce.

This photo is specially dedicated to you people back in Singapore. *grins* Just kidding!

----------------

Just a bit of update - It's still as cold as ever here but weather's getting better; you can see and feel spring is coming with the cherry blossom trees blooming all over here. It will probably take longer for the others to catch up though! :D

On a sad/happier note, this week is the last week of lessons for this term; I'm going to miss all my classmates (even the terrible ones) and all the lovely professors I've had these past 2 months! They are all sooo nice. :)

Upcoming Things for Me
  1. E-Biz Presentation, Business Plan & Website Prototype (65% of the grade!) - 9/3
  2. European Law for Business Exam - 12/3
  3. Trip to Paris - 13/3-15/3
  4. Geopolitics Paper - 19/3 or 22/3
  5. French Essay - 20/3
  6. BeNeLux Trip - 23/3-26/3
  7. European Law for Business Essay - 26/3
  8. Contemporary French Oral Presentation - 3/4
  9. My Birthday! - 8/4 :)
That pretty much sums up the next 30 days for me! Need to get some shuteye before I finish up the website prototype. Looking at how busy I'll be, don't expect much updates on this blog!

Take care everybody! :)
