| Back from Paris! |
 Erm Rafflesians Rock?

Today was a day filled with 'good's & 'bad's since
- I woke up 15 mins before I was supposed to leave the house in order to be on time for the train BUT miraculously I caught the train w/o having to run!
- It took me expensive phone calls to find those RI mats BUT I was reunited with my former AS student & 2 CAT classmates (not the RI mats)!
- A bird pooped on my head. :(
- I finally got to speak Malay to real people live!
- I tripped and fell while walking. :(
- The weather was great and my photos turn out great!
- The great weather made my huge jacket redundant BUT it rained towards the end, so I had to use it anyway.
- I had to use the gents because I couldn't find the ladies BUT I figured out where the ladies were after I used the gents.
Just to list the places we visited - Montparnasse Cemetery, Jardin du & Palais de Luxembourg, Pantheon, Latin Quarters, Paris Mosque, Jardin des Plantes, Institut du Monde Arabe, Notre-Dame Cathedral. I was the French translator; poor Abu was sick and coughing; Huzer held the map, refused to let us use the metro and made us walk the looong way; Hatta was probably the only one enthusiastic enough to take photos of/with! It was all good nonetheless. :)

| Ayam BBQ |
Modified version of the recipe the aunt handed down over the phone, namely due to the niece's laziness to write anything down and the probable lack of ingredients, which turned out to be just fine. Cooking is all about knowing how a particular ingredient smells, or tastes; there is no real need to follow a recipe or buy cookbooks when you finally understand the logic behind the addition of a particular ingredient. Naturals figure it out almost immediately, while it takes countless experimental cooking experiences for others. 4 months and more of cooking - I will be more than happy to take a break upon my return; yet I'd rather cook if it means I could stay on longer.Labels: Food Photography |

| Chateaux de la Loire |
Salut!
Here's a collage of the places I visited on my recent trip to Loire Valley...
 From top left clockwise: Day 1 - Azay-le-Rideau; Vineyard; Day 2 - Chambord; Blois (Flamboyant wing) . Of the 3 castles, I'd say I liked Chambord the best for its impressive size and grandeur. It was the last castle that we visited and I'd have to say that they certainly saved the best for last. :) Nonetheless, it was an eye-opener to be able to see the royal chambers and attempt to imagine how the daily life was like for people in these castles. Photographs didn't really turn out well due to bad weather; the rain barely stopped and skies were almost always grey. The company made it much better though - special shoutouts to Susi, J örg, Alicia, Wanling as well as Maria for being my bus and hostel room partner! -------------------- Upcoming Events- 15/5 - French Book Review due
- 16/5 - Day trip to Paris
- 22/5 - 28/5 - South of France & Italy with Yvette
- 29/5 - Contemporary French Exam
- 31/5 - Home :(
-------------------- Spent the whole day (literally) talking on the phone and shall now need to burn the midnight oil to finish reading my French novel; it does not help that the novel is written in 100% colloquial French (Can somebody remind me why I bought it?). | Back from hiatus! |
Hola!
Ok I am updating after numerous requests.. namely from Z*** & A*****, who are sick of looking at my ducks! Have just concluded my Diplome de Francais des Affaires exam yesterday.. Nothing much exciting happened so far.. Really. ;)
Anyway, here's a collage until I process the photos from the latest trip.
 From top left clockwise: Stir-fry vegetables; sweet & sour fish; stir-fry vegetables with grilled chicken; pineapple rice with omelette. Ok, that's it. I have to go to Carrefour since I have nothing left to eat/cook.. and I don't want to go hungry on a Sunday. On other updates, I have 1.8 GB of bandwidth left, just sent a 5.8 kg box home and I pray it reaches safely.
